Rev. David Lee Broughton
(August 11, 1949 - July 8, 2008)

Rev. David Lee Broughton age 58 of Cannon was born on August 11, 1949 a son of the late Stanley Lee & Edna Cecil Smith Broughton.
Rev. Broughton died Monday July 7, in the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He united in marriage with Janice Mills Broughton on September 6, 1969 and to this union two sons and a daughter were born. He was a Licensed Electrician, a former employee of the American Greeting Company, the KCEOC, the Hillcrest Nursing Home and was the pastor of the Coles Branch Missionary Baptist church. He was also a dedicated member and singer in the True Believers Gospel Singing Group.

David was preceded in death by a brother; Adam Broughton: a sister-in-law: Richie Lynn Broughton, and a brother-in-law: Roger Mills.

He is survived by his wife Janice, two sons: David Lee and wife Jessica, and Christopher Michael and wife Jody: A daughter, Edna Sue and husband Michael Jackson: Five Brothers: Vocus, Linvil and Wife Nina, Steve and wife Doris, Darris and Stephanie and Perry: Three sisters; Linda Sue Mills, Lovella and Husband Nelson Messer and Purity Mae and husband Pat Lewis; Four loving grandchildren Tabitha Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Nicholas Broughton and Madison Broughton.

Funeral services for Rev. David Lee Broughton will be conducted at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church Friday, July 11, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jerry Smith, Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Patterson Cemetery with Steven Broughton, Otis Smith, Roger Mills, Ralph Isaac Burnham, Jeff Warren, Brian Grubb, Terry Johnson and Keaton Smith serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Cole’s Branch Missionary Baptist Church & the Deacons and members of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church

The Broughton family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Thursday, July 10 after 6:30 pm Thursday evening and after 11:00 am Friday morning, at the sinking Valley Baptist Church, until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm.

Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
